10. Russell and Jonathan's big mistake, October

What happened? During a recording of Russell Brand's Radio 2 show, the comb-shy comedian and his over-excitable guest, Jonathan Ross, bombarded 78-year-old actor Andrew Sachs with voicemail messages - during which Jonathan revealed that Russell had once bonked Andrew's granddaughter. It wasn't a very nice thing to do - and when the show was (rather unwisely) broadcast a few days later, two listeners felt compelled to complain.

Shock value: Given their past records, Russell and Jonathan's behaviour wasn't that shocking. What did come as a shock, however, was the overwhelming public outcry following a Mail on Sunday story that brought the story to a wider audience. As the number of complaints reached 38,000, Russell swiftly resigned, closely followed by Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas - while Jonathan was suspended from the BBC for three months. Oh, and Andrew's granddaughter, burlesque dancer Georgina Baillie, is apparently now a shoo-in for Celebrity Big Brother.
